Classes are offered in Classical Ballet, Contemporary Dance and Tap. 

 

CLASSICAL BALLET

Classical ballet provides an excellent basis for all other dance forms.  The student will develop good posture, co-ordination and core strength. The School of Dance Mortlake offers both non-syllabus and syllabus classes following the system of the Royal Academy of Dance. Pupils are encouraged to work towards Graded examinations which are offered from Grade 1 through to Advanced, although these are not compulsory.  Exams help to provide a guide as to the student’s development and also a goal to work towards.

 

CONTEMPORARY DANCE

Contemporary Dance is a modern form of dance based on classical ballet movements and helps to achieve a heightened sense of core strength and flexibility.

 

TAP AND MODERN

Tap provides a lovely contrast to the discipline of classical ballet and is an excellent way of developing musicality and co-ordination.  This class is combined with Modern Dance which provides the young students with an introduction to this exciting dance genre. It enhances flexibility and musicality and is great fun!

WORKSHOPS

The School of Dance Mortlake offers workshops in Classical Repertoire and Contemporary Ballet. Guest teachers of the highest calibre are invited to share their knowledge and experience with the young students.

 

SCHOOL SHOW

Every two years, at the end of the autumn term, our school puts on a show which provides the students with the opportunity to develop their performance skills and experience the excitement of seeing a show come together.

 

PARENT WATCHING WEEK

Parents Viewing week is offered at regular intervals throughout the school year. Parents and family members are invited to watch their children within their usual class setting.
